I don't believe leaving the company that you had signed an I-9 form with have any impact on your GC app as long as you have a same or a similar job lined up if and when you do get an RFE regarding the same.
As mentioned several times, GC is for future employment and you can switch employers as many times as you want under AC21 (of course you don't want to go overboard with switching employers every few months either :)).
I hope this helps - again this is my understanding of the law and not a legal opinion.

so once your processing date is current, then no matter what (if your pd is current or not) they will start the Name Check process or will they wait until my PD is current to get started on the Name check process.

I do not get my pay checks by email. We have to log into our company's internal web site and take a print out of the paycheck. (Its actually a web page I have been taking a printout, even for my Visa extensions). My parents had a Visa Stamping last month with out any issues.

If it is by and large the same business, their immigration lawyer will have to file some paperwork indicating the company has changed its structure and for the paperwork to be amend under the new name.

For FP, USCIS takes the address from G325A or from the I485 form. The reason I am asking is because my company is putting their's address in I485. So I am wondering.

Just got back from getting my fingerprints processed at the Salinas ASC. It was an extremely pain-free experience. Starbucks could learn about customer service from these guys!
They didn't even ask me about my appointment date (I went a full 2 weeks earlier than my rescheduled appointment). They only asked for my EAD for identification. I was in and out within 8 minutes. The 1 hour drive from San Jose is well worth it. I was the only person there for fingerprinting there that Saturday. The employees were friendly, professional and efficient.
This is in sharp contrast to the San Jose ASC, where I was told that "Neither us nor the other ASCs accept walk-ins. We cannot process fingerprints without an appointment."
Good luck to the rest of you.

Hello,
My wife is currently on H4 status. (Just the I-94, her visa expired last year October). She started her MS in Fall 2009. She already competed 2 Semesters of MS on H4 visa. We applied for her Change of Status to F1 visa in March. According to the USCIS processing dates, she will get the COS approved approximately in June 1st week.
She will have to travel to India this summer. The question we have is,
is it advisable to wait till she gets her F1 COS Approved and then go to India for F1 Stamping ?
or abandon the F1 COS and go for F1 stamping directly in India ?
Please advice if there are any risks involved here.
It is the same either way. Once she goes out, she would need a visa stamp to get back in. And the consulate will do whatever they needs/wants to do for approving (or not approving) the visa petition regardless of whether or not she was in F1 status before leaving US.

It sounds like your employer substituted you on an already approved labor cert. The original LC was approved before PERM came into effect, which is why they used the old forms. When doing an LC substitution, the employer kept the original approved Part A and the new, substituted employee needed to complete the Part B.

Also, I did not realize until the last minute that you need to submit your documents 4 days in advance before the interview. Luckily one of my friends told me about it and I was able to request my dad to submit the documents in time. Not sure what would have happened if I did not submit the documents upfront...may be, they might have still allowed me in.

I prefer Hyd as that is where my parents live and I don't have to waste travel fares, visa fees (for canada visa), hotel, vacation etc by going to canada. I just got it done when visiting my parents. If you live close to Canada or have special travel needs, then may be Canada should be considered.
5. How many days does it take to get the passport back.
7 days total I think, including weekend.

I received this email two days ago:
On November 13, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 during business hours.
Does this constitute as a GC approval ?
I read in other threads that a "card ordered" email follows the GC approval but I haven't received the email (nor the physical card yet).
Does it normally take 1 or more weeks for the physical card to arrive after approval ?
