gurus..inputs plz!
did my first MS, got First OPT ...worked on OPT..didnt find a job..
went back did my second MS..got another OPT...and moved into non-quota H1 (research field at a hospital)
now plan to go back and get an MBA..
1.) will i get an OPT after my (fulltime) MBA??? (as i already have 2 OPT's)...is there a limit of OPTS?
2.) Since i was a non-quota H1..will i have to apply for the quota H1 when and come out of MBA...which is basically a lottery system now!!! (and if i dont hit the jackpot that will put me out of status immediately after )
any inputs are appretiated!!

I have been saving for months I am on a fixed income
WHAT THE H CAN I DO

Gurus,
My wife got a job offer on contract basis for 3 months. I am on h1 and she is on h4 so far. I am planning to stay on h1 itself. If my wife accepts this job using EAD, Does my status also changes? Is it okay if she dont find a job after this contract expires, what status she will be in during that time, h4 or EAD?
Please advice, Thanks a lot ....

If you are going to Nogales after 7th year extension, even if you get 3 years of h1, Nogales consulate gives visa for 1 year.
I have talked to Visa Officer he refused to give me for 3 years and he told me that it is the policy of Nogales consulate.

I'm currently working on L1B visa from company A. My present employer applied H1B visa also for me and it got approved around in the August last year. Now I'm planning to change my visa status to H1B.
So I would like to know the options that I have to get my visa status changed to H1b.

Get the police record and DA office record. . If the record shows that no charges were pressed, you can submit that. Check if DA's office can give you a letter.
You can also try obtaining a letter from the court indicating that their record did not have anything on you.

Hi all,
My insurance company (Progressive) is charging a ridiculously high rate for liability only insurance for my H4 spouse who currently holds a valid permit. They say the rate will go further up when she gets a perm license after passing the road test.
I have heard this issue from other H1Bs who have different insurance carriers than mine.
Have you guys found a cheaper alternative? Insurance agents etc??

Now is this for a RFE where a notarized copy is specifically asked ?
My dad just scanned my BC and e-mailed it and I took a print out of that and sent it for the I-485. (No RFE)
Why do you need the originals ? There is no requirement to get it notarized as well.

I obtained an H1B visa through Company A (starting October 2008) and the H1B visa was valid until September 2011, unfortunately in March 2009 I was laid off. As a result to maintain my status I switched from an H1B visa to a B1/B2 visa. I actually went to my home country and got the visitors visa from the consulate in my home country. In July 2009 I returned to the USA and entered the USA as a visitor on a B1/B2 visa.
My question now is what happens if I obtain employment. What does my new employer have to do? Since my initial H1B approval is valid until September 2011, can by new employer just take over the H1B without me having to go through the lottery system again even though currently I am on a visitors visa and have been unemployed for more than 3 months?

Once every check is completed it goes into a queue and then every month a list goes to an officer based on the priority date and visa availability
The best thing is to call them as soon as the processing dates go past your application date. Call them to find out about ur case. At that time they are open about ur case. They will let you know exactly if your name check is cleared.
They also mentioned that once everything is in place the files goes to the office and then it might take up to 90 days for the officer to make a decision.

I am trying to get a green card for the US. My parents are from east asia and I was born in Canada. I went to University in Maryland from 1992-96 and obtained my dental license. I am licensed in the US and intend to purchase a dental office soon. I will still be keeping my dental office in Canada for at least 1 year once I am able to work in the US. I heard about a investment visa however I am not investing more than $400k but it will employ at least 4 US nationals(ctizens). Can I still use the investment visa or can I get a visa for opening a secondary dental office in the US and still keep my existing office in Canada until I qualify for a green card.
