Look, it is not my intention to cast any aspersions on carterx, but it would be totally STUPID for anyone to download and install software that's sitting on a site other than the offical one (vmware.com in this case) just because someone posted it to a forum. Doubly so when the link is posted by someone who's joined the forum in the past few days!
People, you need to use some security sense. Nine times out of ten a link posted by a random user is probably safe; but it's that other time you need to worry about. Especially now that Macs have a higher profile.

We are lucky that Saudia Arabia refused as this would have caused huge economic instability. I am not preaching fear... it is simple common sense for the educated and the aware. The wise will be able to get rich when our market collapses others will be in line at the soup kitchen.

Apple's 256kbps VBR files didn't do me any good with my last car stereo by JVC. The JVC would play AAC, but not VBR AAC. So I could either convert Apple's AAC VBR to regular AAC (extra conversions are bad for sound quality) OR just buy something that plays out of the box (i.e. Amazon 256 VBR MP3). I chose the latter. I'm not sure about my new stereo that came with my WRX (it plays AAC, but I haven't tested a VBR one), but it doesn't matter much sincee that head unit won't be around much longer. Now that Amazon is cheaper to boot, it's not even a question, really. I prefer buying CDs and transferring it myself, though if I want a whole album.

If they add the "word processing mode", then that simultaneously renforces my gripes with it (see other threads), then negates them.
It's an extra step in setting up a document, but I like the thought of it from a productivity standpoint. As long as there's no Clippy.

but who would want to have a full featured iTunes when you still haven't solved the problem of typing. The most efficient part for me is to type out what you're looking for. I do, however, see the advantage to making playlists more efficiently on the go, giving you the ability to shuffle anything you choose, not just "All Songs" which is a bother. :)Text input can be addressed in a lot of different ways. Bluetooth portable keyboards, for example. If I got a tablet, I'd also get myself a foldable keyboard to take along with me. Or you can make do with a virtual keyboard activated by gestures (2nd image):

Boot Camp is not virtualization, by any definition. (And no, there's no way Microsoft or anyone else could argue that it is.)
What if Microsoft claims that the Mac firmware (which is software on a chip) is EFI and Apple is emulating BIOS and thus Windows is running in an emulated environment.

Here in the Netherlands we have Sinterklaas, he comes to us first by steamship, and then on a white horse. It is that important that the TV shows him arriving direct, plus tens of thousands are on the quayside. I hope to be there this year in Harderwijk on the 13th November with my grand children.

I hope this OS is to be bought & downloaded through the App Store and updates come through the generic "software update".
I think it will be on the App Store.. and via a physical disk. I have friends who don't have fast enough internet to even play xboxlive.. and have a high-speed limit of like 500MBs a day. So yeah.

Great shot and sky. The exposure is right on the ball for the sky and the silhouetted trees add drama to the scene.

I'm usually not a big fan of bird shots involving human accessories, such as the table and chairs, but this one is just stunning. You exposed the bird perfectly as there are tons of details in the feathers, and the color separation from the background makes the bird standout.

It's thinking like that which makes lotteries so successful for raising revenue in so many states. Total cost is always a factor, and total cost includes not only plan costs for two years, but it also includes the value of the respective phones at the end of the contract period. At a minimum, a 3GS is going to be worth $100 less than an iPhone 4 after 2 years. So, with a total expenditure in the $1500-$2000 range, you'll be lucky if you save $50 in the long run by going with the slower, lower resolution, older technology model. Hardly worth it.

But when you are thinking of getting what type of cellphone, no, it doesn't count. Cause by deciding you are getting a cellphone but trying to decide which type, you already committed to buying the plan,what type of cellphone does not affect the cost of the plan, you are going to pay it regardless. So the cost of the plan really doesn't count for the cost of the cellphone when you are comparing cellphones together.
Maybe if we were comparing getting a landline to a cellphone (where the costs of the service for the landline are going to be drastically different).
Or even if we were comparing going from AT&T to Verizon there might be some small difference. So only if the cellphones are on different networks (with the iphone though, this only matters if you are comparing to a T-Mobile or Sprint phone as you can get an iphone on either AT&T or Verizon so the plan cost will be the same for the iphone as whatever other phone you want to get on either network).

Ummmm ... The Oct 18 Update in that link says exactly what we've been saying here: you can't legally run Vista Home editions in a VM. Period.

When you think about it, the PSP could (perhaps should) have been the coolest thing since sliced bread with all its features and even movies and Sony's music service tailor-made for it. So what happened? Sony's atrocious proprietary scheme has made it a shell of what it could have been. I have a feeling MS hasn't learned any lessons since the "Works for Sure" campaign became something of a running joke.
Nintendo could have done the same thing with the DS Lite. There are addons for web, music, and video for this device and the battery life would still be on par with iPods...They, probably wisely, decided to keep the price of their device down and provide these features as accessories. Not everyone needs their portable device to do everything but the iPod, PSP, and DS Lite all have the potential for being brilliant convergence devices. Microsoft's talents in this area are still untested. The cellular companies would like their phones to be ultimate convergence devices but the are too greedy (at least in America) for their own good and most of the devices come off as buggy and overpriced...It is interesting, however, that Microsoft is willing to put their Xbox brand (which is pretty well accepted) in the untested market...
